About fogdogs

My name is David McQueen and I am a Licensed Massage Therapist and (unlicensed) sculptor living and working in Brooklyn NY. I graduated from the Swedish institute College of Health Sciences in May of 2009 and have since been practicing Massage Therapy in the New York area.

My massage philosophy is a simple one.  Use what works.  To that end, every massage I give is different moving through different modalities as I move through the body.  What works for one arm may fall short on the other so I am constantly listening and adapting during each session.

I want every goal we set at the outset of your session to be met and surpassed.

What you should expect:
  • professionalism
  • I offer NON-SEXUAL Therapeutic Massage.

  • comfort
  • You will be properly draped throughout your session, and I will adjust the draping, temperatureof the room, sound levels etc. to ensure that you feel relaxed, secure, and comfortable.

  • privacy
  • Your privacy, both physical and medical will be respected at all times.

  • cleanliness
  • of the space, the sheets, the table, the body.

  • presence
  • Though this one seems obvious, an inattentive touch is-in my mind- an inappropriate touch.

  • time
  • I book sessions with a 15 minute window before and after to give us time to discuss your goals and needs before, and then to give you some time to re-collect yourself after. You can expect a full hour of massage (not the day spa 50 minute hour)

What I expect:
  • professionalism
  • I offer NON-SEXUAL Therapeutic Massage.

  • punctuality
  • Please arrive on-time.  An early arrival may disrupt another session and a late arrival will diminish your session.  I do not enjoy cutting my massages short but I refuse to penalize another client for the previous client's tardiness.

  • confirmation
  • I have a 24 hour cancellation policy.  I will confirm your massage 2 days prior.  If for some reason you must cancel please do so with 24 hour notice.  Booked massages which are not canceled with sufficient notice will be billed.

  • cleanliness
  • Please come showered and without overbearing scents and perfumes

What I believe:

  • Tipping is for the service industry.  I understand that in the spa setting massage is considered a "luxury service"and tipping is somewhat standardized, but in my practice I am the owner and the sole employee.  Further, I see massage as a therapeutic practice, in line with the medical industry.  As such, I do not expect or accept gratuities.
and
  • Massage should be affordable.  To this end, I offer discounts to artists and arts professionals as well as an $20 discount for your first session.  Further, through my referral program you can receive credit toward your next massage for each new client you refer.
